Description

This graduate-level course offers an in-depth exploration of employment law and labor relations practices to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the legal frameworks, principles, and practices that govern the employer-employee relationship. Key employment laws such as Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, Age Discrimination in Employment Act, Fair Labor Standards Act, and Family Medical and Leave Act will be presented and assessed for compliance and risk management. This course will also delve into the historical development of labor unions and their respective roles and the contemporary evolution of labor laws examining key legislation, such as the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA), Labor Management Reporting and Disclosure Act (LMRDA), and the Taft-Hartely Act. Students will also analyze the roles and responsibilities of unions, employers, and government agencies in shaping labor relations and the impact of collective bargaining, labor disputes, and arbitration o
